Storing your belongings:

Our storage lockers come in varying sizes from 5’x5’ to 20’x20’. Ask our knowledgeable staff to assist you in selecting the appropriately sized heated or non-heated locker to meet your storage needs.

It is important that you pack your belongings correctly before placing them in storage.  The following tips will aid you in preparing your belongings for storage at one of our facilities:

Furniture and appliances

  • Appliances should be emptied and cleaned thoroughly. Defrost freezers and fridges. Remove any baked-on goods that may attract pests.
  • Bed frames, tables and shelves should be disassembled. Store the nuts and bolts from each item inside a well-marked plastic bag for easy re-assembly.
  • Protect mattresses and furniture with proper covers. These mattress and furniture covers can be purchased at our on-site stores.
  • If possible store stereos, computers and televisions in their original boxes and packing material.  We have sturdy boxes and bubble wrap in varying sizes in our on-site stores if you do not have your original boxes and packing material. Remember to label all your cords.

Breakables

  • Wrap your breakables individually in either bubble wrap or tissue paper. Nest cups and bowls together and stack plates vertically on their edges. Write “Fragile” on each of your boxes containing breakables.
  • Mirrors, pictures and paintings should be wrapped in ink-free paper. These items should be stored vertically.

Linens, clothing and carpets

  • Wash all clothing before storing in boxes and do not enclose within plastic bags.
  • Use a wardrobe box to hang your clothes on hangers.
  • Wool carpets should be professionally cleaned before being stored to ensure that no pests or eggs are present in your carpet.
  • Carpets should be rolled right-side out and never folded to preserve the pile.

Vehicles and machinery

  • All propane and gas tanks must be emptied.
  • Wash your vehicle thoroughly and give it a coat of wax.
  • Change the oil and filters.
  • Inflate the tires properly.
  • Place cardboard or plywood under any vehicle or machinery that may leak.

The following tips will aid you in loading your belongings correctly into your storage unit at either Supreme Self Storage or Junction Mini Storage:

  • We recommend that you use pallets, plastic sheeting or heavy drop cloths to keep furniture and boxes off the concrete floor.
  • Stack boxes of similar size on top of one another.
  • To maximize your storage space, consider using freestanding shelving units and place boxes on furniture and appliances. Don’t forget to use the space under tables to store extra boxes.
  • Placing your sofa on end will save you space.
  • Remember to store items that you need most often at the front of your locker.
  • Leave a small aisle for accessing items at the back of your locker.
  • Leave air space around the unit’s perimeter and between items to ensure adequate ventilation.
  • Do not attach anything to the walls of your unit or hang items from the sprinkler system pipes.
